I’m somewhat ignorant on the topic and so I’m extremely confused as to how the country will go bankrupt if the Democrat supported health care plan is not passed. Could anyone please explain?

It won’t.
Cost will continue to rise in health care unless the Government reforms the private insurance market…that trend is clear and needs to be addressed. Congress is well within their right to address that concern — they are not within their right to supply insurance.
The irony here is that Medicare/Medicaid/Tricare/VA/Medical/etc. etc. all fuel the exponential costs in health care by undercutting hospitals or not paying their bills at all.
Medicare+Medicaid = ~70 Trillion in unfunded liabilities. We can’t afford the insurance programs we have in practice.
As a taxpayer, you pay for those insurance programs via income taxes and then again every time you pay your premium.
