My mother recently inherited a sum of money from a family member that passed away this past year. She has told me that despite the inheritance she and my father will have to file for bankruptcy. She has no income and my father only get's Social Security Disability checks in the amount of $1500 a month which they currently use to keep up their home and vehicles. Can someone file for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in this situation?
I think it would be best to check with a bankruptcy lawyer on this question. Try to get one on the phone that has just an information line so you don't get charged for getting info that you could get somewhere else for free anyway. I did a search for you below, I hope this helps a bit!
