been thinking about filing chapter 7 bankruptcy and then joining the AirForce. Can I be disqualified for that?
For enlistment, it makes no difference. Hard to believe as it is, bankruptcy actually improves your credit worthiness, because you can only do it every 7 years (roughly) or so. Your security clearance could be in jeopardy though, but it isn't a blanket decision…it depends on individual circumstances. Let's face it, if you are at the point of bankruptcy, your credit couldn't get much worse.
A few years back, in the days of the C5 Galaxy, Lockheed went under and needed a huge bail-out. Last time I checked, they hadn't lost their clearance or their contracts. LOL
