How to convert a chapter 13 bankruptcy into a chapter 7 in Georgia?

How to convert a chapter 13 bankruptcy into a chapter 7 in Georgia? My order has been in effect for 38 months. Was just informed that it will be another 15 months before it will be over. I would rather just convert it rather than keep paying. Has anyone ever did one on their own without an attorney?

You can’t do this just because you do not want to pay anymore. In order to qualify for a Chapter 7 you must pass 2 means test. The first is if you earn more than the average for your state, the second is if you have at least $100 in disposable income to pay toward your debt. If you fail on either of these the chances of being able to convert it to a Chapter 7 is almost zero. A good gage would be if your overall situation has changed. If you are basically the same(or in a better) position you won’t be allowed to convert it to a Chapter 7.

As to doing it without an Attorney is risky. Because if you do something wrong, unlike a new Bankruptcy filing where you could just have it dismissed. If you do something wrong in this not only could they not allow the conversion, but you could put your Chapter 13 in jeopardy. Meaning that that 38 months of payments might be for nothing.
