why did so many airlines go on chapter 11 in recent years? we always hear that everybody is flying……?

…..so airlines should make a lot of money, right?

The cost of operating is increasing. The biggest operating expense increase is in fuel. Employee benefits costs like health care are also on the rise. Technically in the US the number of commercial flights per day is decreasing.
