Helping you make smart bankruptcy decisions

when did the bankruptcy laws in New Jersey change to ten years before it would be removed from your credit?

I filed in 2001 and thought it would be clear in seven years, that anniversary is in March this year and I was looking forward to it my credit has been spotless since then it is the only mark on it

As far as I know, it has always been allowed to be on your credit report for ten years. You were just not allowed to file bankruptcy again for seven years. I had a friend that filed bankruptcy over ten years ago and he thought the same thing back then. But he had to wait for ten years to have it removed from his credit report.
